The Oklahoma GAL Registry (“the Registry,” “we,” “us”) operates oklahomagal.directory, a public directory of Oklahoma Guardians ad Litem. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Listing information (from GALs). When an attorney claims and publishes a listing, we store the professional information they choose to provide — name, OBA bar number, firm, city, biography, practice areas, counties served, credentials, training, optional fee information, and a contact phone and/or email. This information is self-authored and intended to be public.
- Identity verification. To claim a listing, we match the OBA bar number and email you enter against the Oklahoma Bar membership roster, and we send a one-time secure link to the email on file. We store these verification tokens temporarily.
- Contact requests (from visitors). When you use a listing’s contact form, we collect the name, email, and any optional phone number, county, case number, and message you provide, so we can relay your request to that GAL.
- Usage events. We log aggregate activity tied to a listing — profile views, phone reveals, and contact messages — so the GAL can see engagement with their listing. We also keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) for security and reliability.
- Cookies. We use a single session cookie to keep a GAL signed in while managing a listing. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use information
We use the information above to operate and secure the directory, verify that listings belong to the attorney who claims them, relay contact requests to the GAL you select, show GALs aggregate engagement with their own listing, and communicate with GALs about their listing (for example, periodic availability reminders).
How information is shared
- With the GAL you contact. The details you submit through a contact form are sent to that Guardian ad Litem so they can respond.
- Service providers. We rely on infrastructure providers — web hosting (Amazon Web Services), email delivery (Amazon SES), and DNS/security (Cloudflare) — that process data on our behalf.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share visitor contact details with our sponsor or any advertiser. The directory displays a single sponsor link; clicking it takes you to that sponsor’s own site under their own policies.
- Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of the Registry or its users.
Security & retention
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). We retain listing and contact information for as long as needed to operate the directory and then for a reasonable period afterward, unless a longer period is required by law. Verification tokens expire automatically.
Your choices
A GAL can edit or unpublish their listing at any time from their account, or contact us to have it removed. If you submitted a contact request and want it deleted, or have any privacy question, email us at privacy@oklahomagal.directory.
Children
The directory is intended for attorneys, courts, and adults seeking a Guardian ad Litem. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
